Privacy & Cookie Policy
Effective Date: March 2026 | Last Updated: March 2026
Unmanaged is a professional services and content brand created by Elizabeth Arnott. This Privacy & Cookie Policy describes how Unmanaged collects, uses, and protects information from visitors to unmanagedpeople.com and from clients who engage in any of our services — including 1:1 consulting, group coaching, in-person events, and our free tools and resources.
Reading this policy is an act of self-protection. We believe you should know exactly what happens with your information — and that clarity here reflects the same values we bring to all of our work.
1. Who We Are
Unmanaged is operated by Elizabeth Arnott, an independent consultant and workplace strategist based in Oregon. For questions about this policy, you can reach us at:
2. What Information We Collect
We collect information in a few ways, depending on how you interact with Unmanaged.
From website visitors:
– Analytics data (pages visited, time on site, general location) collected through third-party tools such as Google Analytics or similar services
– Any information you voluntarily submit through contact forms, quiz tools, or email sign-up fields
– Cookies or similar tracking technologies used to understand site performance and visitor behavior
From the Toxic Workplace Quiz and other free tools:
– Your responses to the quiz or self-assessment tool
– Any contact information you choose to share to receive your results
Quiz responses help us deliver your results and may inform the general themes of our content — but your individual answers are never shared, published, or used to identify you.
From 1:1 consulting clients:
– Name, email address, and contact information provided during onboarding
– Responses to the intake questionnaire, which may include detailed personal and professional context
– Notes, session summaries, and materials created during the engagement, including your Transformational Roadmap
– Any information you share directly in session or in written communication
From group coaching members:
– Name, email address, and payment information provided at enrollment
– Participation in live group sessions conducted via Zoom
– Any materials, resources, or communications shared within the membership community
Please be aware that group sessions involve other members. While we cultivate a culture of confidentiality within the community, we cannot guarantee the privacy practices of other participants.
From in-person event attendees:
– Registration information, including name and email address
– Payment information if applicable
We may take photographs or video at in-person events for use in our content and marketing. If you prefer not to be photographed, please let us know — we will always accommodate that request, no questions asked.
3. How We Use Your Information
Information collected from website visitors is used to:
– Understand how the site is being used and improve its content and structure
– Respond to direct inquiries
– Deliver content such as newsletters or downloadable resources you have requested
Information from the Toxic Workplace Quiz and free tools is used to:
– Deliver your results and any follow-up resources
– Understand what workplace challenges our audience is navigating, in aggregate
Information from 1:1 consulting clients is used to:
– Prepare for and conduct sessions effectively
– Create personalized session summaries, resources, and your Transformational Roadmap
– Maintain continuity across the engagement
– Follow up on action items and commitments made in session
Information from group coaching members is used to:
– Manage your membership and deliver access to sessions and resources
– Communicate about scheduling, community updates, and membership details
We do not use your personal information for advertising, automated profiling, or to train AI systems. We will never use your information in ways that feel intrusive or misaligned with why you came here.
4. Confidentiality of Client Information
Client information — including intake questionnaire responses, session notes, and all materials created during an engagement — is treated as strictly confidential.
We do not share, sell, publish, or discuss client information with any third parties without explicit written consent from the client. Anonymized patterns or insights may occasionally inform Unmanaged content (such as Substack posts), but individual identifiers are never included.
This commitment to confidentiality is foundational to the work. What you share in session stays in session.
5. Payment & Billing
When you purchase a membership or service, payment is processed securely through a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card or banking details on our systems.
Billing records — including transaction amounts and dates — are retained for seven years as required for tax and financial compliance. If you have questions about a charge or need documentation, reach out and we’ll make it simple.
6. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
– With service providers who support the operation of this website and our services — such as hosting, email delivery, payment processing, scheduling tools, and Zoom — under agreements that require them to protect your information
– If required by law or legal process
– To protect the safety of any person where disclosure is necessary
– In the event Unmanaged is ever acquired or transitions to new ownership — you will be notified before that happens
7. Cookies & Tracking — Full Cookie Policy
This section is our complete Cookie Policy. We want to be transparent about what cookies are active on this site, what they do, and what control you have over them.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember information about your visit — like your preferences or how you navigated — and they help us understand how the site is being used so we can keep improving it. Cookies do not give us access to your device or any personal information you have not already shared with us.
What types of cookies does this site use?
We use four categories of cookies. Here is exactly what each one does:

Do Not Track signals
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal to websites. There is no universal standard for how websites must respond to these signals. We acknowledge Do Not Track requests and, where technically possible, we limit analytics tracking for visitors who have enabled it.
How to manage your cookie preferences
You have a few options:
– Cookie consent banner: When you first visit unmanagedpeople.com, a banner will give you the option to accept all cookies, essential cookies only, or manage your preferences. You can revisit this at any time.
– Browser settings: All major browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies under Privacy or Security in your browser preferences. Note that blocking essential cookies may affect how the site functions.
– Opt out of Google Analytics specifically: Install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Adjusting your cookie settings will never affect your ability to access free content, complete the quiz, or reach out to us. We have no interest in making privacy feel like a penalty.
A note on third-party cookies
When you interact with embedded content on this site — such as a Substack subscribe form, a Zoom session link, or our payment processor — those platforms may set their own cookies on your device. We do not control those cookies. They are governed by the respective platform’s own privacy policy, outlined in Section 8 below.
8. Third-Party Platforms
Unmanaged content is also distributed via Substack (elizabetharnott1.substack.com). If you subscribe to the Unmanaged Substack, your information is subject to Substack’s privacy policy in addition to this one.
Our virtual sessions are conducted via Zoom. Your use of Zoom is subject to Zoom’s own terms and privacy policy.
Links to third-party sites may appear within Unmanaged content. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.
9. Data Retention
We keep your information only as long as it genuinely serves a purpose. Here is how that works in practice:
– Website analytics data is retained according to the policies of the third-party tools used
– Quiz and free tool responses are retained for up to two years unless you request earlier deletion
– Email subscriber information is retained until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you
– Client records from 1:1 engagements are retained for five years following the end of the engagement
– Billing and payment records are retained for seven years as required by tax law
If you would like your information deleted at any point, please contact us directly and we will honor that request wherever the law allows.
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
– Access the personal information we hold about you
– Request correction of inaccurate information
– Request deletion of your information
– Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
– Opt out of marketing communications at any time
For Oregon residents:
Under the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act (OCPA), effective July 1, 2024, you have the right to know what personal data we hold, access or correct it, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal data (we do not sell data, but the right is yours). We will respond to verified requests within 45 days.
For California residents:
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), including the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of the sale of personal information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at elizabeth@unmanagedpeople.com. We will respond promptly and without making you work for it.
11. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we collect from unauthorized access, disclosure, or loss. This includes secure storage of client files, encrypted payment processing through our payment partners, and limiting access to personal data to only what is necessary for the work.
No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. If you have concerns about sharing sensitive information digitally, please contact us to discuss options.
12. Children’s Privacy
Unmanaged services and content are intended for adults in professional contexts. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe someone under 18 has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy & Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, the effective date and “Last Updated” date at the top of this document will change. For meaningful updates, we will let active clients and subscribers know directly.
We will not retroactively reduce your rights under a prior version of this policy without explicit notice.
14. Contact
If you have questions about this policy, how your information is handled, or how to adjust your cookie preferences, please reach out. We are a real, human operation and we take these questions seriously.
